5 Days Luxury Maasai Mara and Amboseli safari

5 Days Luxury Maasai Mara and Amboseli safari.

The 5 Days Luxury Maasai Mara and Amboseli safari presents an excellent opportunity for Explorer travelers to visit two of Kenya’s most famed wildlife parks—the vast golden plains of Maasai Mara National Reserve and the beautiful landscape of Amboseli National Park, with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. In selecting this safari option, you are choosing contentment, access to magnificent wildlife adventures, and enjoying the very best with your stay at the finest luxury lodges/camps.

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi—Fly/Drive to Maasai Mara

Your luxury safari begins with a warm welcome on your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by your Kenya safari guide from Focus East Africa Tours in Nairobi. After a brief safari briefing, you will either take a scenic flight or execute a drive, traversing the Great Rift Valley to Maasai Mara National Reserve. Either journey is visually stunning, with rolling hills, tea plantations, and Maasai villages viewed en route.

Upon arrival at Maasai Mara, you will arrive at your luxurious lodge or camp (Mara Serena Safari Lodge, Ashnil Mara Camp, or the ultra-luxurious Angama Mara). Each lodge/camp provides levels of comfort, excellent service, and panoramic views of the stunning landscape. After having lunch at your lodge or camp, you will go on your first afternoon game drive in Maasai Mara.

The expansive savannahs of the Mara are filled with wildlife: elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, and the endless herds of wildebeests and zebras. As the sun sets, the park glows with golden light, creating an amazing moment for a photograph and the chance to connect to the magic of the Mara. As the sun sets, you will retire to your lodge for a candlelit dinner before spending the evening under the stars.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara.

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive, as this is the best time to find predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas before they hide in the shade. Additionally, the Maasai Mara is home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—as well as many species of birds and plains game.

You can also choose to spend the full day exploring different areas of the Maasai Mara reserve with a picnic lunch in the wilderness. This will get you into remote locations to view different wildlife behaviors. If you are traveling to the Mara between July and October, you may also be fortunate enough to see the Great wildebeest migration, one of the great wonders of nature.

In the evening, head back to your lodge for dinner and relaxation. Several lodges provide optional cultural visits to local Maasai villages, allowing you to meet local Maasai warriors, immerse yourself in their culture, and witness their hospitality.

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Amboseli National Park.

Enjoy an early morning breakfast before departing the Maasai Mara for your journey to Amboseli National Park, in southern Kenya, near the Tanzanian border. You can choose to fly directly to Amboseli or travel overland , which may involve traveling through Nairobi to stop for lunch before proceeding to Amboseli.

Your arrival in Amboseli will be at an accommodation like the Ol Tukai Lodge, the Tortilis Camp, or the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge. These properties offer stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and plenty of amenities. Later in the afternoon you will depart for your first Amboseli game drive. The park is well known for its large herds of elephants, which are often seen walking across the plains of Amboseli with Kilimanjaro directly behind them. In addition to elephants, you will generally see zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, cheetahs and possibly others.

After the game drive you will enjoy sundowners with the sunset behind Kilimanjaro before returning to your lodge for dinner.

Day 4: Full Day of Exploring Amboseli.

Today is a full day of immersion in Amboseli’s phenomenal wildlife and stunning scenery. You will start with a very early morning game drive, when the sky is the clearest and when the snows of Mount Kilimanjaro’s peak are best observed.

Amboseli provides superb photographic moments—from close encounters with elephants to colored birds in swamps. After breakfast relax at your lodge, use the pool, or have a spa treatment. Later in the day you will set off for another game drive during the afternoon to see more of the park’s varied savannah landscapes. On the way back, you may want to visit a Maasai village neighbor to Amboseli to learn about their pastoral way of living and participate in a traditional dance. Early evenings return to the lodge, where you will dine in the African wilderness, a fitting end to your day 4.
