Detailed Itinerary of 8 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara National Reserve

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our representative. He will give you a briefing about the Kenya wildlife safari and what to expect. Then leave for Masai Mara National Reserve, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in.

In the afternoon you will go for your first game drive looking for various animal species and birds that inhabit here with your driver-guide until sunset and return back to the camp for overnight.

Day 2: Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, head to the park for a full day game drive with your packed lunch. explore the incredible Maasai Mara wide open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Rivers.

Witness the frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffes, impalas, hartebeests, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impalas, hartebeests, elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos among others. Also, it is common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next meal. The ultimate action here is the annual wildebeest Migration in July and August when millions of these animals move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October. Thereafter you will return from your overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Game Safari in Masai Mara National Reserve

Wake up early for breakfast, then drive out to the reserve for a morning game drive in search of early grazers; this time of day is perfect for spotting many predators as they return from their hunting sprees.

You game viewing extends till sunset, then return to the lodge for overnight stay.

Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park

Enjoy breakfast, then leave for Lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch and have a short rest. In the afternoon you will go for a game drive offering you a chance to explore the shores of Lake Nakuru which is bound with a lot of bird species, lion, black and white rhinos among others.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park  

Enjoy a full day game drive in the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park as you drive through the savannah plains, you will enjoy incredible sightings of several animals icluing Rothschild giraffes, gazelles, buffaloes, zebras, among others. Visit the beautiful Lake Nakuru where you will see large flocks of flamingoes and other water bird species.

Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha

Depart for Lake Naivasha. Today you will be staying at a beautiful lodge located right by Lake Naivasha, a fresh water lake. we visit Elsamere – the former home of the late Joy Adamson who, together with her husband George, became world famous for their pioneering conservation work and relationship with the Lioness Elsa, as told in her best-selling book and subsequent film – Born Free. After lunch, we take a boat ride to Crescet Island. Many different types of animals are found in the island as we take a walk with the expert resident naturalist. Animals to lookout for include giraffes, waterbucks, wildebeests, gazelles, impalas, dik diks can be seen during the walk.

Day 7: Lake Elementaita

After breakfast, drive to Lake Elementaita – home to rare bird species and listen to the birds singing as you watch the pink colored flamingoes and pelicans feeding. You will have a fulfilling leisurely stroll on the shores of the scenic lake and take pictures as much as you can well as have picnic lunches. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Departure

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and return to Nairobi where you will be dropped off either at your hotel or at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination bringing your Kenya safari to an end.
