Salt lick Safari Lodge is a luxury accommodation found in the game-rich Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary of Kenya, close to a waterhole overlooking Tsavo West National Park in southeastern Kenya.

The lodge is situated on 9000 square miles of the protected terrain covering western Kenya. The lodge is one of the most photographed lodges in East Africa, convenient and affordable for luxury travellers /tourists who want to explore and discover Tsavo national park with its beautiful views of expansive African lushness, waterhole and surrounding areas.

How to get there:

The lodge is 42 kilometers from Voi,  200 km from  Mombasa town and about a 400km drive from Nairobi city. It takes a 30 minutes flight from Mombasa town and an hour flight from Nairobi to the close Voi airstrip, then a few minutes to be transferred to the lodge.

 Salt Lick safari  Lodge consists of 96 luxury and comfortable en-suite rooms built across 2 levels  with the view of the waterhole and wilderness that are built in African Traditional simple style, well elevated with a raised platform, decorated and furnished with modern comfort.

Rooms are fitted with single beds for individuals and double /twin beds for couples or 2 people, as well as a group/family option, with en suite facilities of bathrooms with hot and cold showers, clean flush toilets ,  mosquito nets, comfortable wooden chairs and tables, free bottled water in the rooms, clean duvets and white pillows,  comfortable beds, and free toiletries, to mention but a few.

Rooms have sitting areas, terraces and private verandas that give a stunning view of the wilderness, wildlife roaming around the waterhole, and surrounding areas.

Each room is well equipped with comfortable queen-sized beds.

There is a fireplace where fire glows with comfortable chairs where guests relax and share stories/experiences about the safari; it also provides warmth to visitors when the weather is chilly.

A restaurant with a view of the wilderness that serves different meals, both international and African-inspired meals, to meet guests’ choice. Meals are served in a place of your choice, either the dining area or the veranda while facing the park. They offer  buffet  breakfast , picnic lunch and  dinner in the main building served by well-trained, friendly, and welcoming  staff  and they also serve bush barbeque diners  while enjoying the stars in the sky.

The park

Tsavo National Park is made up of two separate parks in Kenya Province, between Nairobi City and Mombasa. The Park is considered to be among the largest parks in Kenya, covering the total area of 22,000km squared.

 The two different parks in Tsavo national park include; Tsavo east national park which is the oldest and largest park in Kenya, found in the semi-arid areas of Taru desert occupying a total area of 13,747 square kilometers, and Tsavo west national park also covers a total area of 9,065 square kilometers.

The Two park are the most visited with different categories of accommodations: Budget, mid- range and Luxury accommodation that are convenient and affordable to visitors visiting the park.  Tsavo national park has a variety of wildlife like; Elephants, Rhinos,  Buffaloes, Zebras , Leopards, Giraffes , Cheetahs,  Lions Etc and over 500 species of birds like; ostriches, starlings, weaver birds, Kingfishers, hornbills, etc.
