Our 5 Days Uganda Primate Safari offers you an opportunity to trek mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and chimpanzees in Kibale National Park – home to the largest population of chimpanzees recorded to be over 1500 individuals and other 12 primates species.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is Uganda’s gorilla sanctuary celebrated worldwide for being a home to the endangered mountain gorillas, this ancient forest is situated in southwestern Uganda within the Albertine rift, a region renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, contributing to its richness of life.

Kibale Forest National Park is a renowned paradise and a primate sanctuary dubbed as The Primate Capital of Africa. Kibale Forest is located in western Uganda, a gem famous for protecting the highest population for primates, especially large troops of chimpanzees like the famous Ngogo troop.

Detailed Itinerary of 5 Days Uganda Primates Safari

 Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you will be meet by our representative – your driver guide and embark on a journey to Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way you will have a stop at the Equator Crossing in Kayabwe and lunch in Fort Portal and continue to the park.

Check in at your lodge and in the afternoon you will go for a guided walk in the Bigodi Swamp for an encounter with several forest creatures like olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys and several bird species. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking Experience in Kibale Forest 

Your day starts early with breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzees, then go for a forest walk to search for the chimpanzees it will take you about four hours after which you will head for lunch meal. There are other primates along the trails to be seen like the baboons, colobus monkeys, forest hogs, beautiful birds and butterflies of Uganda. There after return to lodge for your night meal and overnight stay

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest 

Wake up early for breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for the remarkable gorilla trekking experience. You will have lunch along the way, arrive in the park in the evening, and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest

Wake up early for breakfast, and with your packed lunch boxes head to the park headquarters where you will join other trekkers for briefing about gorilla trekking and in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek. Then head into Bwindi Forest looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

Once you locate the gorilla family you are trekking, you will be allowed to spend only one hour in the presence watching them play, feed and groom each other, giving you a deeper insight into their life in the forest. Then trek back to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla trekking certificates, then return to your lodge where you will spend the rest of the day at rest. Have dinner and overnight stay.
