Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Gorilla Tracking Uganda

Day 1: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our driver-guide and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator Crossing and have lunch in Mbarara.

Continue to the park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park  

After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters where you will join other trekkers for briefing about the rules and regulations to follow. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then enter into the forest of Bwindi in search for mountain gorillas.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. With a help of a ranger guide you will be able to locate the gorillas, spend one hour in their presence as you watch them play, feed and groom.

Later, trek back to the park headquarters, meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge for an evening of rest. Alternatively you can head to Batwa community for a cultural experience, here you will be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the medicine man and witness how they used to live in the forest.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a game drive en-route through the Ishasha Sector. Here you will see the rare tree climbing lions, bush bucks, antelopes and many other animals.

Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and in the afternoon you will be driven to the Crater Lakes Region to view the various crater lakes around the park plus Lake Katwe where salt is traditionally mined in the park.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Cruise

After breakfast, drive to the Kasenyi Plains for a morning game drive in search for animals like lions, leopards, hyenas, Uganda kobs, and elephants among others. Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, a natural l water channel connecting Lake George to Lake Edward.

On your cruise, you will see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds such as herons, grey crested cranes among others. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Kibale National Park

After breakfast, you will head to Kibale Forest National Park with a visit at the Amabere ga Nyinamwiru caves to view the stalacities and stalagmites. Then proceed to Kibale Forest National Park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. 

Overnight at Chimpudu Safari Lodge

Day 6: Chimp Tracking- Bigodi Swamp

Wake up early for breakfast, and head to the Kanyankyu Tourist Centre for briefing about chimpanzee trekking. A senior ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest of Kibale.

Head into the forest looking for chimpanzees, during the trek you will see other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys, red colobus monkeys, olive baboons and many birds. Once you locate the chimpanzee troop, you will spend one hour with their presence as watch them feed and groom.

In the afternoon, you will go for a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Swamp Sanctuary for a sight of various bird species and primates. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Drive back to Kampala

Today is the last day of your 7 Days Gorilla Tracking Uganda, after breakfast you will transferred back to Kampala for drop-off at the airport for your departure flight.
