Detailed itinerary of 8 Days Tanzania and Uganda Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport

On arrival in Tanzania’s Arusha at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transferred to your lodge.

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti

Enjoy breakfast, then leave your lodge and drive to Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Crater. Leaving the highlands behind, you descend into the heart of the wild Africa – Serengeti National Park dominated by endless savannah plains, rolling into the distance as far as they can see.

En-route you will visit Maasai Boma where you will get a chance to see the Maasai people performing their traditional dances. You may even get a chance to join in.

Then head to the central park area – known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. The area features the Seronera River which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife which you will see during the game drives.

Day 3 & 4: Game drive

Spend a full exploring the endless plains of Serengeti.

Rise early to enjoy an early morning game drive, at sunrise, you may encounter animals grazing in the beautiful light of sunrise and predators may still be busy hunting before retiring to rest for the day. Sunrise on the Serengeti is not to be missed and extraordinary photographic opportunities will abound at this magical time of the day.

You have an option to return to your accommodation for a hot lunch or to opt for a packed lunch which can be enjoyed at one of the various picnic sites found in the Serengeti. After lunch, you will continue on a game drive. Around the time of dusk be on the lookout for lions, leopards, cheetahs among others.

Cheetahs in Serengeti can also be spotted on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when temperatures are not too high. They rely on daylight and speed to catch their prey. Hippos can be seen in the bigger pools and rivers while crocodiles can be seen sunning themselves on the riverbanks.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe

Have an early breakfast, transfer to Arusha to catch your flight to Entebbe International Airport.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi forest for gorilla trekking

Start your day with an early breakfast and then embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – The best gorilla trekking destination in the world, the journey will offer you highway sights of rural and semi-urban Uganda with several fruits and vegetable markets along the roads, craft and drum makers and a stop at Uganda’s Equator monument.

Continue with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch before proceed to Bwindi with short bathroom stopovers and picture sessions of landscapes and other attractions.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking

Today is the highlight of your Uganda part of 8 Days Tanzania and Uganda Safari

After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer you to the briefing point at 7 am before you start your gorilla trek at 8 am. During the briefing, you will be taken through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest in search for mountain gorillas and how to behave while in their presence.

You will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then head into the forests of Bwindi in search for the gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorilla family and where they spent a previous night. When you locate the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour in their presence watching them go on with their lives, grooming and taking care of each other among others. You are allowed to take pictures as long as your flash light is off.

Then trek back to the starting point where you will meet your guide and head back to your lodge for an evening of rest.

Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe for Departure

You will checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala, your guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight back home.
