Amboseli National Park Facts  : Amboseli national park is a 151 square mile park located in Kajiado county Kenya, formerly was called the Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve. The first known European to enter the Maasai region was Joseph Thompson, in 1883. In 1906 Amboseli designated the ‘Southern Reserve’ but in 1948 it was returned to Game Reserve status. In 1974 Amboseli National Park was established and in 1991 it was designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Amboseli is considered to be one of the world’s optimal places for viewing wildlife. Amboseli National park protects the wildlife and the ecosystem that makes up the park that extends out of the park and across the border into Tanzania.

Amboseli national park is a birding haven in that the park consists over 600  birdpsecies, of which the 47 of them are raptors some of these species includes the cranes, water birds, pelicans, Long-toed lapwing, Pangani long claw, Steel-heeled lark, African swamphen, yellow-necked spur fowl, Tavete golden weaver, hammerkops, Madagascar pong herons, lesser flamingos, shoebill, lesser kestrels, kingfishers and many more, on the other side the park experiences migratory birds through Amboseli National Park from the months of October to January, which makes the park the best  for bird watching, as well that period the birds can be breeding thus making the number of the bird species to increase in number.

Amboseli national park has got the best viewing point’s for example, the park has got the most amazing Observation Hill, which is a pyramid shaped hill that provides an excellent view of the park surroundings by the tourist during their time in the park.

Amboseli national park has an endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of feet of the volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro’s ice cap, which funnel into water springs in the heart of the park.

The best time to visit Amboseli national park is during the dry season that’s when the area is out of the water source and the roads are in good conditions to access the park and such periodic month’s starts from June to October and December to January.
