Mount Longonot Hiking is a stratovolcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, Africa. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860’s, then its name derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot meaning the ‘’mountains of many spurs’’ or ‘’steep ridges’’. Mount Longonot is protected by the Kenya Wildlife Service as part of the Longonot National Park. Mount Longonot is located about 90km from Nairobi. The hiking safari trail starts off from Longonot park gate to the top of the crater and around the crater rim. Mount Longonot Entrance fees and the opening hour.

Mount Longonot operates between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm daily. Then the Kenyan Citizens and Residents Adults pay an entrance fee of 250 ksh (USD 50) while the children pay 200 Ksh.Non-Resident Adults pay USD 20 while children pay USD 15.

Requirements for the hiking safari to Mount Longonot.

Though the hiking is long and moderately difficult, so here you need to pack the light clothes. You will need to pack water (its recommended to carry a reusable bottle with you as plastic bottles  are not allowed within the National park) and you need to pack the energy inducing fruits and snacks, before anything you also need to pack according to the weather conditions. A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are essential for the warmer temperatures and arain coat may come in handy depending on the period of time you have visit.
