Mount Kilimanjaro Weather

Mount Kilimanjaro Weather : Tanzania experiences dry and rainy seasons instead of the extremes of winter and summer weather because of its closeness to the equator (between 1 and 11.45 degrees latitude south of the equator and 29.20 and 40.35 degrees longitudes east). To put it mildly, the local weather on Kilimanjaro can be a little unpredictable. In the rain-forest belt, there is an annual rainfall of 2100 mm, whereas in the summit zone, there is less than 120 mm. comparing daily temperature variations to typical weather cycles reveals that they are both surprising and heavily reliant on altitude.

Mount Kilimanjaro has a total of five significant ecological zones, each approximately 3,280 feet (1,000 m) in altitude. As altitude rises, each zone experiences a commensurate drop in temperature, precipitation, and life. The average temperature at the foot of the mountain, where the ascent starts, ranges from 70°F to 80°F (27°C to 32°C). As you proceed through the many biological zones of Mount Kilimanjaro, the temperature will drop. The nighttime temperatures at Uruhu Peak top can vary from 0°F to -15°F (-18°C to -26°C). Kilimanjaro’s weather is quite unpredictable because of this, so you should always be ready for rainy days and chilly nights.

For those who wish to climb Kilimanjaro, we advise them to avoid the long rains, which usually fall between February and May. This is because visibility is poor at this time, making the mountain hazardous and slick.

The shorter rains occur during November and December white June through October it is a summer time and advantageous for climbing the Mountain.

NB: As long as the rainy season runs from February to May, mountaineers can easily reach the summit of this peak as long as they have the necessary climbing equipment.
Near the mountain’s base, the year-round weather is generally consistent and ranges from tropical to semi-temperate. The lower plains experience hot, dry weather with typical highs of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The weather gets warmer and muggier as one moves from the Lower Plains into the Rain Forest.

There are five separate zones on Mount Kilimanjaro: The lowest elevations are covered in farmed farmlands; the rain forest zone, heath, and moorland with alpine plants come next; and the lunar-like desert comes immediately before the snow-capped, desolate top. The zone affects both the animal life and the climate.

Where do you sleep on Kilimanjaro?
One of two accommodations is available to trekkers on Mount Kilimanjaro: a mountain hut or a tent. Slumbering in tented camps is the norm for trekkers, as only the Marangu route provides hut accommodations. All hikers on the last seven Kilimanjaro routes are required to camp.

Luckily, you have it easier because your porters not only set up camp for you but also carry all of the camping gear. Even though you could be a rugged person who enjoys carrying your own camping supplies and setting up camp on your own, Kilimanjaro doesn’t operate that way. No one is able to climb Kilimanjaro by himself. As an alternative, you will need to ascend the mountain with a certified tour operator and support from a mountain crew.
